Experience - Community Service

Community Service
ASMS partners with several local, non-profit community organizations to provide students with opportunities to volunteer. These opportunities benefit the individual organizations and the community, as well as help the students develop social and team working skills.
All students at ASMS are required to complete 40 hours of community service on an annual basis. Students will have an opportunity to earn 17.5 of the required 40 hours during community service mornings—prescribed class time in which all ASMS students participate in community service projects for the school’s partner organizations. Students are expected to complete the remaining 22.5 community service hours outside of the classroom setting.
During the 2010-2011 school year, Student Community Service Mornings will focus on activities with the American Red Cross, Corning Food Pantry, Founders Pavilion, Salvation Army, and Southeast Steuben County Library.
Community Service Morning dates: October 1(Kick-off), October 22, December 2 (Thu), January 14, February 11, March 11, April 15.
